Trapped in the Aldani Shrine, the party entered the Chamber of Echoes, where a weeping statue of Ubtao stood and ghostly illusions showed the fall of the Aldani. The voice of the Hungerer mocked them, and Lorsa Rygor twitched and muttered in response. The party then moved deeper and found the Flooded Library.

Recap

The Chamber of Echoes

The party is in the Aldani Shrine, just past the Trial of Depths. They are trapped: an attempt to leave nearly drowned them, and they must move forward. Lorsa Rygor is struggling against possession.

On the evening of the thirtieth of Kythorn, 1492 DR, the party enters a vast, acoustically resonant chamber dominated by a gargantuan stone statue of a male Tabaxi, Ubtao. The statue’s eye sockets are filled with water, which makes it weep perpetually.

Ghostly reenactments of the history of the Aldani play out around the party. They watch the Aldani fish for sacred lobsters, in violation of Ubtao’s laws, and their subsequent transformation into lobster-folk.

The voice of the Hungerer echoes through the hall and mocks the party. He claims that the Aldani were doomed by greed, just as the party is doomed by its “heroism.” The psychological weight of the dungeon begins to press on Lorsa, who twitches and mutters in response to the voice.

The Flooded Library

The party moves deeper into the shrine and finds the Flooded Library, a sprawling chamber drowned in waist-deep water and filled with rotting scrolls and ruined tomes. They spot text hinting that the Aldani were once devout followers of Ubtao before the Hungerer’s corruption took hold. Something moves beneath the water.

Aftermath

  • The party reached the Flooded Library.
  • The weight of the shrine had begun to press on Lorsa Rygor.
