The party reunited and traveled through the jungle for nine days. On the way they freed two triceratops from a tar pit, avoided a fight with a Red Wizard patrol and went the long way around a gorge, and their guide Azaka Stormfang revealed that she was a weretiger. At Firefinger, where they meant to retrieve Azaka’s Mask, they fought giant spiders and stirges in the first two caves and found a dead explorer.
Recap
The reunion
The party reunites after the split. Vogal and Vonara are pointedly silent about their detour.
The tar pit
The jungle journey lasts from the eighteenth to the twenty-sixth of Kythorn, 1492 DR. The party finds two triceratops stuck in a tar pit. Glade uses mold earth to stabilize the ground. Taenae, in the form of a giant eagle, carries Vogal, who ties ropes to Gooye to pull the animals free. Vonara supervises with a smoke. The beasts leave behind a Figurine of Wondrous Power (Triceratops).
The Red Wizard patrol
The party runs into a Red Wizard patrol. Vonara deceives them, and combat is avoided.
The gorge
The party comes to a massive gorge. To save Gooye they choose the long route around it and do not risk the drop.
Azaka’s secret
The party meets a group of explorers, who bless them. Afterward Taenae notices a detail about their guide; what it is is not recorded. Azaka Stormfang reveals that she is a weretiger. The party accepts her secret, and this solidifies her loyalty.
Firefinger
The ladders on the outside of Firefinger are crumbling and dangerous. Taenae takes the form of a giant eagle and ferries the party directly to the first cave entrance.
In the first cave four giant spiders ambush the party. Vonara is heavily wounded and poisoned, and Taenae gives her emergency first aid.
In the second cave the party is swarmed by stirges, the “Bat Mosquitos”. The party discovers that the creatures are attracted to heat sources, and they go for Fenro Silver specifically.
The party finds a corpse in the second cave, a dead explorer, and loots the body.
