After the victory at Firefinger, Azaka Stormfang left the party, and the party traveled to the chasm of Ataaz Muhahah. When Vogal stepped onto its bridge a Stone Panther Guardian awoke, and its magic froze the party in place. The party’s consciousnesses were pulled from the Material Plane, and they awoke in a dark rainforest in Valachan.
Recap
The jungle trek
Following the victory at Firefinger, Azaka Stormfang separates from the group to return to Port Nyanzaru. The party heads south toward Kir Sabal, seeking the power of flight.
The party reaches Ataaz Muhahah, a gaping chasm spanned by the ancient “Monkey Bridge.”
The monkeys and the plants
Taenae uses magic to speak with the local wildlife. The monkeys are unnaturally aggressive and repeat phrases like “We want to play” and “We are legion.” Vonara attempts to commune with the flora, but the plants only echo the monkeys’ malicious intent.
The guardian
Vogal steps onto the bridge to cross and awakens the Stone Panther Guardian. The Guardian unleashes a magical gaze, which leaves Takhesis Calva and Vogal slowed and dazed. As the fight begins the Guardian’s magic intensifies. It no longer only slows them; it stops them. The party is frozen in place, muscles locked, unable to scream.
Valachan
The sounds of the Chultan jungle, the insects, the river and the monkeys, fade into absolute silence. Thick, unnatural mists coalesce around the bridge and swallow the light. The party’s consciousnesses are violently yanked from the Material Plane.
The party awakes in a dense, dark rainforest that is distinctly not Chult. It is cold, silent and oppressive, and it smells of damp decay. This is Valachan.
The date is the twenty-ninth of Kythorn, 1492 DR, and the party’s first day in Valachan.
Aftermath
- Azaka Stormfang left the party.
- The party was in Valachan.
