Kir Sabal was a monastery of the Aarakocra in Chult, reached by a climb of five hundred feet and led by Asharra.12 It sheltered Princess Mwaxanaré, the hidden heir of Omu, and it was where the party was given the Dance of the Seven Winds, which carried them south toward the Forbidden City.23

Description

The monastery stood at the top of a five-hundred-foot climb, which the party made carefully on its first visit.2 It was built into the sheer cliff face of a high plateau, and the air there was thin and cold and full of the sound of wind chimes and wings.

Inhabitants

The monastery was home to a flock of Aarakocra.2 Asharra was their leader.1 Nephyr, whom the party freed from Firefinger, returned there and vouched for them to the flock; by their second visit he was a confident disciple.123 For a time after he set out it was unclear whether he had been taken by the mists or left behind on his way to the monastery.4

Princess Mwaxanaré, heir to Omu, lived there as a ward of the Aarakocra.2 Her younger brother Prince Na lived there with her.

Taenae left her hadrosaurus Gooye at the monastery as a work animal in return for its hospitality.2

Notable locations

A teleportation circle lay dormant inside the monastery until Glade woke it.2 The party later keyed the circle of The Bastion to it.3

History

The first visit

The party first heard of Kir Sabal late in Kythorn, 1492 DR, from Nephyr, who told them that Asharra could grant magical flight through the Dance of the Seven Winds.1 They reached the monastery on the thirtieth of Kythorn. Asharra agreed to perform the dance in exchange for a Black Orchid from the ruins of Nangalore, and the party learned of Mwaxanaré.2 They left by the teleportation circle for the Aldani Basin.25 Taban Veilthorn shadowed the party as far as the monastery and went on alone to the Sunken Temple.2 When the party left the basin it chose to go back to Port Nyanzaru rather than return to Kir Sabal at once.6

The party obtained a Black Orchid at auction in Port Nyanzaru on the twenty-third of Flamerule.7 Whether it was given to Asharra is not recorded.

The Dance of the Seven Winds

The party returned on the fifth of Eleasis by the circle from the Bastion.38 Mwaxanaré refused to speak of Omu without a pledge of fealty, which the party declined.3 At midnight Asharra performed the Dance of the Seven Winds, which granted the party magical flight at the cost of her own wings for its duration. Mwaxanaré then had a vision that directed the party to Dungrunglung.3 The party flew south, and the flight ended on the twelfth of Eleasis. 8

Afterward

No later visit is recorded. Asharra and Mwaxanaré were among those at the camp above the caldera on the seventeenth of Eleasis.9
